Description
This is a 1970 Mercedes-Benz 280SL coupe convertible finished in Off-White (paint code #050) over a Dark blue MB-Tex interior. The Mercedes-Benz model W113 280SL is powered by a 2.8-liter inline-6 cylinder engine paired to a 4-speed automatic transmission. This two seater coupe was produced by the German manufacturer from 1963 to 1971, and makes for a stylish, reliable, and graceful collectible. This seller has had the car in his possession for 18 years, having imported it from Arizona in 2004 and mentions he has added approximately only 1,800 kms during that time. The vehicle is currently located in Montreal, Quebec and shows approximately 95k-kms on the odometer. The seller mentions that the 280SL is modification-free and that the wiring has been recently refurbished.
For US bidders, this 280SL is directly importable without modification as it is EPA & DOT exempt being greater than 25 years old. For more information on transport/import please visit our Transport/Import page here

The seller mentions that the Off-White paint has been refinished. The bonnet, boot lid, door skins, and tonneau cover are of aluminium construction, reducing the vehicle’s curb weight overall, which comes in at approx. 2,998 lbs. The 280SL is 169 inches long, 69 inches wide, and 52 inches high. It has a tall removable Pagoda hardtop and a soft top that is included in the sale as well. Illuminated side reflectors, brightly polished chrome bumpers equipped with overriders, and a signature Mercedes-badged chrome grill compliment its characteristic upright headlights which sit atop the turn signal lights. The vehicle rides on 14” Fuchs alloy wheels with disc brakes, colour-matched one-piece hubcaps, and Michelin XH whitewall radial tires. The 280 has a short and wide monocoque chassis, with double wishbones, coil springs and a stabilising bar in the front suspension and a single-pivot swing axle, radius arms and transverse springs in the rear suspension.

The 280SL interior features its front seats upholstered in Dark blue MB-Tex with 3-point seatbelts and dark-blue carpeting to match. Wooden trim accents the centre console box, dashboard, and lower windshield surround. A Mercedes trademark two-spoke steering wheel fronts a large and salient instrument cluster set within an Off-White paint-matched panel.
A 140mph speedometer is mounted to the left and a 7k-rpm tachometer, along with gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature, and oil pressure complete the cluster. Amenities include air conditioning, a Becker Europa AM/FM stereo, a stylish analog clock, and storage space behind the seats. Undercarriage photos are included in the gallery below.

This Mercedes-Benz 280SL is powered by the manufacturers M130 engine; a 2.8-liter SOHC inline-6 with Bosch multi-port fuel injection sending power to the rear wheels by way of a 4-speed automatic transmission. The fuel tank has a capacity of 82 litres. An oil-cooler is fitted vertically along the radiator. The seller states that the car will deliver with a complete tune-up and fresh fluids.
