This 420SEL was purchased new by the seller and it is now offered for sale here at No-Reserve. This midsize sedan is powered by a 4.2-liter V8 paired with a 4-speed automatic transmission. Standard features include a power sunroof, cruise control, tilt steering, power windows and seats, air conditioning, and a rear window defogger. It comes with factory-optioned heated and powered front and rear seats. The odometer reads approximately 199k-kms (123k-mi). This 420SEL is registered in British Columbia with an active and normal registration status. The 420SEL is a W126 model produced by Daimler-Benz from 1979 to 1991. The included recent Carfax report shows no history of any accidents or insurance claims.

The recent service on the vehicle includes the installation of a new battery, new tires, and new brakes and rotors for both the front and rear.

This second-generation S-Class features an Arctic white exterior which was repainted approximately three-years ago by No1 Collison in Vancouver, BC at an approximate cost of $12k. Chrome-plated bumpers are featured along with colour matched running boards. The exterior is accentuated by a chrome grille and a raised hood adorned with a Mercedes-Benz three-pointed star. Large halogen headlights with washers are accompanied by wraparound amber turn lights. The fluted taillamps ensure visibility even when dirty. The trunk lid proudly displays a three-pointed star and a 420SEL emblem. Riding on two-piece AMG wheels currently with Falken Azenis tires, the original 15” telephone dial-style wheels with Goodridge tires are included in the sale and pictured in the gallery. Four-wheel ABS disc brakes, are featured and the dimensions of the 420SEL include a length of 203 inches, width of 72 inches, height of 57 inches, a 121-inch wheelbase, and a curb weight of 3,915 lbs.

Inside, the 420SEL boasts a Saffron leather interior with striated wood trim on doors, dash, and console. Premium leather upholstery extends to seating for five and door cards. Both seats and windows are power-operated. The sedan is equipped with cruise control, automatic climate control, a rear window defogger, and a power tilting and sliding sunroof. Front and rear passengers enjoy armrests and storage pockets. A black four-spoke Mercedes-Benz steering wheel fronts an analog instrumentation panel featuring a 240 km/hr speedometer at the center. Fuel economy, fuel level, oil level, and temperature gauges are positioned to the left, while a 7K rpm tachometer is on the right, accompanied by an inset analog clock. The electronically adjustable steering column adds to the convenience and safety features, which include courtesy lights, a theft deterrent system, dual airbags, traction control, and seat-belt pretensioners.

In terms of historical service, at 143k-kms, the vehicle received a brake fluid flush, a new radiator, and a new thermostat. At 144k-kms, the power steering pump was replaced, new oil pan, new transmission pan, and new gaskets were installed. At 159k-kms new spark plugs and an ignition coil set, front brake replacement, along with rotor replacement and new Bosch headlights.

At 162k-kms, the replacement of all four-wheel bearings and rear brakes, including new rear calipers, brake fluid flush, and rear rotors, installation of a new steering dampener. At 186k-kms replacement of all V belts, serpentine belts, idler pulleys, and brake hoses. At 195k-kms a synthetic oil change and stage 3 polishing, undercoating, and ceramic coating was applied. The seller notes that all servicing is up-to-date, and the sale of the vehicle includes all service document folders. 

Under the hood, the 420SEL is driven by a 4.2-liter SOHC V8 paired with a 4-speed automatic transmission, propelling the rear wheels. When new, it was factory-rated at 215 horsepower at 5,200 rpm and 243 lb-ft of torque at 3,750 rpm. The M117 engine features a lightweight cast iron block with aluminum heads and Bosch Jetronic fuel injection.
