Description

This is a 1969 Honda Z50 Mini Trail finished in Scarlet (paint code #C) and Silver with a black seat and Scarlet frame. It is powered by a 49 cc air-cooled OHC single-cylinder four-stroke engine with a 3-speed semi-automatic transmission. This Honda minibike sold by the Japanese automaker beginning in 1968. The Honda Z50 mini trail is a lightweight, affordable, gently powered motorcycle intended for children or smaller adults to take off-roading.

For US bidders, this Honda Z50 is directly importable without modification as it is EPA & DOT exempt being greater than 25 years old. For more information on transport/import please visit our Transport/Import page here.

The 2.5-liter fuel tank on this Honda Z50 has its original scarlet and silver paint, and is supported by a simple tubular steel frame painted red. The fuel tank has a Honda wing logo and Honda Mini Trail script. This minibike has a thickly cushioned and heat pressed black vinyl solo seat with two height settings and black plastic handle grips. The fenders, chain guard, and upswept exhaust are chrome, with the exhaust being protected by the frame.

Two-piece 8” wheels are wrapped with Balloon tires with semi-knobby treads. Drum brakes are utilised at both ends. The wheels can be removed by removing the adjusting nuts, brake cables, drive chain, and axle nuts.

The handlebars are chrome and mounted on a single riser. These are twist-lock folding for easy storage. The ignition switch is located next to the fuel tank. The front brake lever and throttle grip are attached to the right handlebar, and the rear brake lever and headlight beam selector switch are on the left. Foot rests are mounted on either side, and the rear brake pedal and kick starter pedal are on the right. The gear change pedal is on the left.

This is of the progressive shift, positive stop type, so one full stroke of the pedal will shift the bike one gear position. Shifting down is accomplished by lifting up the pedal. This Honda Z50 comes equipped with a side stand, and has a 15 watt head lamp and a 17 watt tail light; street-legal lighting first available in 1969. The Honda Z50 is 50 inches long, 23 inches wide, 34 inches high, and it has a wheelbase of 35 inches.

This Honda Z50 is powered by a 49 cc air-cooled OHC single-cylinder four-stroke engine with a 3-speed semi-automatic transmission powering the rear wheel. This was rated at 1.9 horsepower at 5000 rpm and 2.2 lb-ft of torque at 4,200 rpm when new. Power is sent to the rear wheel with this 3-speed semi-automatic centrifugal clutch transmission, utilising a two-up shift pattern and a drive chain. The 2.5-liter fuel tank provides a range of up to 175 kms at 20 km/hr, depending on the weight of the rider. The bike’s suspension is made up of an inverted telescoping fork with black rubber gaiters and a fixed rear wheel.
