This is a 2001 Mercedes-Benz CLK55 AMG and it is powered by a 5.4-liter SOHC 24-valve V8 engine putting power to the ground through a 5-speed automatic transmission. This example is finished in Brilliant Silver Metallic (paint code: 744U). Manufactured in Bremen, Germany, the Mercedes-Benz CLK55 AMG is a handsome and powerful grand tourer. This example is listed for sale privately and it is currently registered in British Columbia, Canada with a (Rebuilt) title.
The seller states that there are no mechanical issues or leaks. The digital odometer reads 185,000 kms, which he mentions approximately 5000 of these he has added in his four months of ownership. For US bidders, this CLK55 AMG is importable after a compliance letter from Mercedes-Benz USA has been obtained. The CLK55 AMG’s bodywork was subtly revised over the standard car, with a unique front apron featuring integrated fog lamps, deeper side skirts, and a model-specific rear bumper. The seller states that there are stone chips to the front end, some scratches and a scuff on the driver side rear bumper, which is visible in the imperfections category of the gallery.
The seller adds that due to a rear end accident the status of the car received a rebuilt title. It has been professionally repaired to its factory standards and passed a rebuilt title inspection to achieve roadworthiness. The CLK currently sits on a set of 18-inch Touren wheels wrapped in 225/40 R18 92V Dimax Alpine winter tires. The second set of Lorinser Replica monoblock alloy wheels are included in the sale and pictured in the gallery.
In the cabin, the high-specification Exclusive Graphite / Anthracite AMG leather covers the front/rear seats, while burl walnut trim completes the interior. The four-spoke leather wrapped steering wheel fronts an analog/digital gauge cluster with a 260kph speedometer.
A pioneer touchscreen head unit has been added to update the interior feel and functionality. At the front, the electrically-adjustable and heated seats have memory settings for both driver and passenger. The seller notes that the driver forward adjustment is stuck, but all other adjustments operate as they should. A start-up and walk around video of the CLK is included in the gallery below. The only powertrain modification was the addition of an aftermarket cat-back exhaust system, which helps the hand-built V8 breathe!
The 2001 Mercedes-Benz CLK55 AMG is powered by a hand-built 5.4-litre naturally-aspirated V8 engine that generated 342 horsepower when new. This sends power to the rear wheels via a 5-speed 5G-Tronic Automatic transmission. Sport and comfort modes adapt shift points and firmness, or the driver can select manumatic mode for more control. This engine uses a forged billet steel crankshaft, forged connecting rods and pistons, a modified intake manifold and reworked cylinder heads, and lightweight AMG-specific camshafts. The vehicle has a curb weight of 3,573 lbs. Brakes are dual-circuit power assisted 4-wheel discs.
