Description
This is a 1991 Volkswagen Scirocco GTII finished in its original Kometenblau Metallic (paint code #LB5V) paint. The GTII is located in Repentigny, Quebec and is registered in the province with a clean and (Normal) status. It is now being offered here for sale by the seller in a private sale transaction. The GTII is powered by a 1.8-liter inline-4 cylinder engine paired to a 5-speed manual transmission. This second generation Scirocco, a FWD sport compact hatchback, was produced by the German manufacturer from 1981 to 1992. This Scirocco is a european-spec vehicle that was said to have been imported to Canada from Germany by the prior owner in 2007. Service history and import documentation are included with the sale, and the seller believes himself to be the fourth owner.
For US bidders, this Scirocco is directly importable without modification as it is EPA & DOT exempt being greater than 25 years old. For more information on transport/import please visit our Transport/Import page here.
Built off of Volkswagen’s Group A1 platform, the body of this GTII is 165.7 inches long, 64.8 inches wide, and 51.4 inches high, weighing 1944 lbs. It has a duckbill style front spoiler, dual wipers, and square headlights with wrap-around orange lens turn signal lights. The B-pillars and rear spoiler are fished satin black as opposed to body colour, and the rear spoiler is located partway up the glass on the rear hatch providing downforce. The car is equipped with plastic-coated one-piece wrap around bumpers, a 16v skirt kit, and a tilting sunroof.
This Scirocco sits on 14” five-spoke silver finished wheels with ventilated disc brakes at the front and drums at the rear. The seller mentions that the body is rust free, but metinos a driver side front fender dent and stone chips around the body.
Inside the cabin, a four-spoke steering wheel fronts a 220 km/h speedometer to the left, and a 7000 rpm tachometer to the right, with a digital clock at the centre. The seats are trimmed in a rare-for-the-model plaid cloth fashion. The steering wheel shift-knob and door cards are leather wrapped. The car starts and locks manually and it is equipped with an aftermarket Panasonic head unit.
A VDO voltage gauge is mounted adjacent to the climate control unit. The E-brake lever is located on the centre console by the shifter. Two stereo speakers are placed astride the large covered trunk compartment, providing 22.8 cubic feet of space, and the rear seats fold down for a total of 52.7 cubic feet with this adjustment.
The Volkswagen Scirocco GTII is powered by a naturally aspirated inline-four cylinder engine producing 94 horsepower at 5500 rpm and a maximum torque of 104 lb-ft at 3000 rpm. This 8 valve engine has a transverse alignment and sends power to the front wheels via a 5-speed manual transmission. It has a manufacturer claimed top speed of 181 km/h. The seller mentions that the previous owner had recently replaced the fuel filter, battery, alternator, plugs, wires, distributor cap, timing belt, and tensioner.
