Description
This is a 1998 BMW 528i finished in Cosmos Schwarz (paint code #303) over a black leather interior. This E39 528i is powered by a 2.8-liter inline-six DOHC 24V engine paired with a 5-speed automatic overdrive transmission. The 528i variant of the 5-series was produced by BMW from 1997 to 2001. Purchased by the seller in 2019, this 5-series sedan is currently registered in Alberta with a clean and (Normal) status, and 235K-km on the odometer. The seller notes that he used his BMW exclusively as a summer car for the first three years of his ownership and winterized it in 2022 by installing a battery tender, remote starter, high performance water pump, and oil pan heater in addition to its existing block heater. The front bumper has significant cracking although a replacement painted "M5 Style" fornt bumper and lip is included in the sale.

This 528i has a kidney grille with a high gloss black surround and red and orange accent bars. It has upgraded twin dual-beam Xenon headlights and running lights, with fog lights integrated into the valence framing the lower grille. The seller mentions that he installed colour matched trunk and roof spoilers, along with VDO door lock actuators, and soundproofed the doors using STP sound deadening foil and closed cell foam. He further states that rustproofing was applied meticulously, and the windows are ceramic tinted. This 528i rides on 5-spoke 18” wheels wrapped in new Maxtrek Relamax all season tires, 245/40R18 all around, with 4-wheel ABS disc brakes, the front brakes being newly installed by the seller. The seller notes that a truck backed into the car in 2020, damaging the hood and bumper. The hood was repainted, and the seller has a brand new M5 bumper, painted and ready for installation. This 528i has a black leather trim cabin with wood accents on the shifter surround and knob. Diamond stitched Manici leather and rubber floor mats have been added and the new M Performance door sills are illuminated upon entry. The front seats are 10-way powered and the power headrests were upgraded by the seller to those of an E65. AC Schnitzer aluminium pedals have been installed, and the rearview mirror was upgraded by the seller.
A four-spoke BMW badged tilting and heated multi-function steering wheel fronts a 240 km/hr speedometer to the left and a 7K rpm tachometer to the right. Steering is a variable ratio, variable assist, rack and pinion design. The passenger seat has been upgraded to a full contour seat, and rear passengers have climate control access. Further convenience and safety features on the 528i include a navigation system upgrade, cruise control, traction control, remote keyless entry and remote start, a rear window defogger, heated and auto-tilting side view mirrors, child safety door locks, power door locks, and front and side airbags. The seller notes that he replaced the cabin air filters yearly, and upgraded the thermostat housing to aluminium.
The 1998 528i is powered by BMW’s M52 engine; a 2.8-liter inline-six with dual overhead cams, single vanos, and four valves per cylinder sending power to the rear wheels by way of a 5-speed automatic overdrive transmission. This is rated at 190 horsepower at 5,300 rpm and 206 lb-ft of torque at 3,950 rpm.
The 528i rides on a refreshed all-aluminium suspension with a double-jointed MacPherson strut at the front, Z-link at the rear, coil springs at all corners, and Bilstein B6 strut assemblies. The seller shares that he has recently replaced the fuel filter, power steering and water pump pulleys, differential fluid, transmission fluid, fan clutch and blade, cooling hoses, radiator, auxiliary fan, thermostat, brake fluid, calliper seals, power steering reservoir, oil pan gasket, valve cover gasket, and engine mounts. He further mentions that he has installed Eibach anti roll bars at the front and rear, Vanos seals and bearings, and a Bosch steering pump, ABS sensor, and alternator.
