Description
This 2005 Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG is finished in Iridium silver metallic paint (color code 775). This SL65 was purchased new at Mercedes-Benz downtown Calgary dealership in 2005. It is currently and has been registered in Alberta with a (Normal) status since 2005. It had a suggested MSRP of $238,995 CAD when new. AMG enhanced Active Body Control (ABC) suspension keeps the car planted and offers driver-controlled ride-height adjustment on the fly. AMG 8-Piston front and 4-piston rear calipers with two-piece aluminum-hat cross-drilled & slotted rotors stop the car.
The digital display is said to display just over 107,500 kms (67k miles). This SL65 is offered for sale by the second owner privately with service records, a car cover, a complete leather backed manual and two key-fobs.
The SL65 AMG features unique bodywork including an AMG sculpted front bumper, side-skirts and rear apron with black painted metal-mesh inserts. The electrohydraulic retractable aluminum hardtop is said to be in working condition with no issues. The Bi-xenon headlights are accompanied by lower fog lights and the taillights are AMG smoke-color. Quad polished stainless-steel exhaust tips expel combustion gas from the Biturbo V12 engine.
The original wheels have been replaced in favor of 20” Renntech forged aluminum wheels with matching polished center caps. Wrapping the wheels are Michelin pilot super sport 4S tires. They measure 225/30/ZR20 in the front and 305/25/ZR20 in the rear. The tires are said to have approximately 80% tread remaining. The original wheels are said to have been sold prior and are not included in the sale. An accident occurring in 2011 is listed on the Carfax without an associated insurance claim. The seller states the incident involved a scratch on the passenger door that was repaired.
The cabin is finished in “Charcoal Exclusive Nappa leather” on the seats, doors, dash and center console. Optional burl wood trim is located on the door panels and center console area. The cluster is garnished by an alcantara-wrapped dual instrument pod. The speedometer is electronically toggleable between Kph & Mph utilizing the same gauge face. A command infotainment system offers navigation and is mated to an eight-speaker Bose audio system.
An OEM Mercedes-Benz Bluetooth hands-free calling device is said to have been installed in the center console by the dealer. The seats are heated, cool-ventilated and offer massage pulsing for the driver and passenger. The car was also optioned with Keyless-go entry and a Panoramic glass roof that includes a retractable sun-shade. The AMG leather-trimmed sport steering wheel also has manual gear change buttons located on the backside.
Mechanical
Under the hood of the SL65 is a 6.0L SOHC twin-turbo 36-valve V12 engine. Paired to the engine is an AMG-enhanced 5-speed automatic transmission. This powertrain combination is said to propel the SL65 from 0-60 in 4.1s. Notable services include replacing the right coil-pack bank, replacing the ABC pump & left suspension strut.
