Description
This is a customised 1947 Chevrolet Stylemaster finished in Endura Polyurethane Aztec Yellow Pearl Metallic paint and clear coating. Currently registered in Alberta, Canada, it is powered by a 3.8-litre V6 from a 1988 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Royale Brougham. The digital odometer on the stylemaster reads approximately 283k-kms, but in reality it has been driven approx. 22,000 kms since the completion of the restoration. The cluster was swapped in from the 88 Delta and the mileage remained un-adjusted. All restoration and repairs were completed a number of years ago. All the completed work has been documented with photos and notes. These photos, along with the information regarding the repair timeline and expense records are pictured in the gallery.
For US bidders, this Stylemaster is directly importable without modification as it is EPA & DOT exempt being greater than 25 years old. For more information on transport/import please visit our Transport/Import page here.
The body of the Chevy Stylemaster was totally disassembled and re-installed. Front and rear bumpers are original steel, and these were stripped and repainted with silver metallic finish applied. Exterior mouldings, lamps, bezels, handles were also painted with silver metallic finish. Door glass and quarter glass are original and intact. Windshield is a split screen, and the back window is flat. Undercarriage, structure, and floor panels were cleaned and show no damage, rust or corrosion at the time of listing.
The underbody received full undercoating. Metallic graphics with pinstriped outlines accent both sides of the car from rear of fenders to the front of the quarter panels. Wheels are 15” original steel and fitted with full sized covers in bright metal finish accented with three-point spinners. Tires are Motomaster SE2 All Seasons, 195/65/R15 in the front and 215/65/R15 in the rear.
Inside the cabin of the Stylemaster, a new carpeted interior was installed and sound dampening insulation was placed under the carpets. Trunk interior panels were repaired, and the headliner was replaced. The front bucket seats, taken from a Ford Thunderbird, are power adjustable and covered with velour cloth fabric. The rear bench seat is upholstered to match. Door and quarter trim panels were custom made with stereo speakers on each side. Some material is sagging and needs glueing to eliminate the wrinkles. The seller mentions that the driver side window roller needs replacing. These imperfections are pictured in the gallery. The dashboard was custom modified to accommodate new switches and the digital instrumentation cluster and an Alpine 2004 stereo system head unit. Weather seals for the doors, windows, and trunk have all been replaced. The engine compartment was fully detailed and repainted when the powertrain was removed. It was replaced with a 3.8-litre V6 from a 1988 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Royale Brougham that was documented and rebuilt at 200,000 kms. The power steering line was built to adapt to the Chrysler steering box.
The transmission is a GM 700-R4 overdrive automatic from a 1984 GMC Jimmy 2WD. This was completely overhauled, with a digital speedometer sensor added to replace the old cable style. A 1985 Dodge Diplomat 4-door was used as a donor car for the suspension, including its steering system, front and rear springs, shocks, ball joints, tie rod ends, rear axle, brakes including master cylinder and booster, and steering box. The rear axle uses a 1985 Chrysler Posi Traction differential (3.55:1 axle ratio). New stock ‘85 Dodge shocks and rubber bushings were installed. The vehicle’s frame and suspension were sandblasted, treated, and topcoated. Brakes were said to be in excellent condition from the ‘85 Dodge Diplomat, so they were left alone with the exception of replacing the rear brake steel lines, and a new master cylinder.
