Description
This 1967 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 underwent a comprehensive refurbishment in 2022 by Bank’s Motorsports in California. The multi-year project involved the installation of a modified 5.3L L33 V8 engine paired with a 4L70E four-speed automatic transmission. The chassis and frame were stripped to bare metal and refinished, and the interior was reupholstered with modern enhancements.
The exterior features a Leadfoot Gray paint job with a white removable hardtop. Inside, it boasts a leather-wrapped roll cage, Dakota Digital gauges, and a Rockford Fosgate sound system. Additional modifications include a Holley Terminator electronic fuel injection system, LED lighting, custom chromoly bumpers, a Smittybilt winch, a stainless-steel exhaust system, and 17-inch wheels with Baja Champion tires. This modified FJ40 is offered with a clean Alberta registration in the seller’s name.

According to the seller, the body was removed from the frame and refinished in Leadfoot Gray as part of the refurbishment. This process also included the installation of aftermarket LED lights, replacement door hardware, aluminum gas struts for the rear door, and poly bushing frame mounts. The VIN on the frame matches the chassis. Additional exterior features include a receiver hitch, rear barn-style doors, single side mirrors, and a steel front bumper with a Smittybilt XRC remote 9500 lb winch. Braking is provided by new disc brakes and calipers at all four corners, while power is delivered to the pavement through 17-inch American Racing wheels wrapped in BF Goodrich Baja Champion tires, sized 265/70. Bilstein struts manage the suspension at all four corners.
The interior has been reupholstered in black vinyl with all-new weatherstripping. It features a Forever Sharp steering wheel, complemented by Dakota Digital gauges, including a 120-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and instruments for oil pressure, fuel level, coolant temperature, and voltage. The digital odometer shows approximately 680 miles, with total chassis mileage unknown.
A Rockford Fosgate sound system with Bluetooth/Pandora connectivity and a standalone digital display has been installed, along with a custom 10-inch subwoofer enclosure under the driver's seat. The custom roll cage includes vinyl padding, and Tuffy Protection personal security boxes are mounted in the rear, retrofitted with speakers.
Powering the FJ is a 5.3L L33 V8 engine equipped with electronic fuel injection, stainless shorty headers, and DeepMotor flow-through fuel rails and regulator. An all-aluminum radiator with an electric fan ensures optimal temperature management. A new PSI wiring harness has been installed to ensure reliable operation. Power is delivered to the rear or all four wheels through a TCI 4L70E four-speed automatic transmission with a center console-mounted shifter and K&M custom drivelines.
