Description
This 1989 Volkswagen Jetta GLI 16V is a rare Wolfsburg Edition, with only 1,500 units produced for a single model year. It features a striking Helios Blue Metallic paint finish, matched with color-matched 15" BBS RA wheels.
Inside, the cabin is equipped with Recaro front seats adorned with patterned cloth inserts, a sunroof, air conditioning, power accessories, and body-color mirror caps.
The car is powered by a twin-cam 1.8L inline-four engine paired with a five-speed manual transaxle. The odometer currently shows an approximate mileage of 113k miles, and the vehicle comes with a (Rebuilt) Washington title.
All 1,500 Wolfsburg Edition models boast a uniform Helios Blue Metallic exterior (LA5Y) with black bumpers and trim. The design includes a front air dam with integrated brake ducts, plastic fender flares, body-color mirrors, and a rear spoiler.
Wolfsburg fender badges, GLI 16V badging, and door handle guards are among the additional features. BBS RA 15" basketweave wheels with color-matched centers were standard, wrapped in Falken Ziex 195/50R15 tires in the front and Dunlop D60 A2 205/50R15 tires in the rear.
Braking is managed by power-assisted discs on all four corners.
The interior is enhanced with Recaro Trophy sport seats in the front, featuring eye-catching cloth patterned inserts that match the bolstered rear seats.
Creature comforts include air conditioning, a leather wrapped shift knob, 16V-branded aftermarket floor mats, and power windows, mirrors, and locks. A four-spoke steering wheel with an aftermarket wrap complements the instrumentation, which includes a 140-mph speedometer, a tachometer with a 7,200-rpm redline, a digital clock, and supplementary gauges. The six-digit odometer currently displays just under 113k miles.
Under the hood, the 16-valve 1.8L DOHC inline-four engine boasts Bosch KE-Jetronic fuel injection and delivers a factory-rated 123 horsepower. Power is sent to the front wheels through a five-speed manual transaxle. The seller has performed various services during their ownership, including radiator replacement, cylinder head rebuild, installation of a new timing belt and water pump, and replacement of the shift linkages. Additionally, the dealer purchased a set of H&R Cut Kit, which includes new front shocks, and the rear shocks are available but not yet installed. The new owner could choose to install the lowered H&R Kit on the rear or opt for stock height shocks for the front.
