Description
This is a 2005 Factory Five racing Shelby Cobra Daytona coupe finished in Marlin Blue Metallic (paint code # FacFive5) with white racing stripes. It is powered by a 302 cu in. Ford Racing V8 engine paired with a Tremec TKO 5-speed manual transmission. The body is a fibreglass shell replica of the 1964-65 original Shelby Daytona coupe. This Daytona coupe is issued a serial number when purchased new from Factory Five Racing and it is currently registered in Quebec with an active and (Normal) registration status. Highlights of the factory equipment include a front/mid-engine configuration with a space frame and built-in roll cage, independent double-arm suspension, and power steering.
For US bidders, this Daytona is importable and USA DOT and EPA compliant. For more information on transport within Canada and import to the USA, please visit our Transport/Import page here.
The Daytona has a clamshell front hood, a rear duckbill spoiler, Lexan window scoops and headlight covers, a functional passthrough radiator hood vent, made of laser cut aluminium mesh, as are the fender vents (with an array of stickers surrounding these), ceramic-coated dual side-exit exhaust pipes, dual fog-lights, a blue-painted tow hood, and a LeMans style polished aluminium gas cap cover. As compared to the original Shelby Daytona, the Factory five racing model is 6% larger in all dimensions, which was done to increase the wheelbase to allow for larger rear wheels for improved grip.
The car is built on a jig-welded tube frame with a 95 inch wheelbase chassis. The body is a hand laid laminate composite, with a hinged glass rear window made of high quality vinyl-ester resin. The cockpit, dash, trunk, and engine bay are constructed of precision cut aluminium panels. The front brakes are Ford Mustang GT 11” rotors with twin piston PBR aluminium calipers, brake pads, and fasteners, and the lines are braided stainless steel.
The interior includes a full roll cage and a SCCA style rear crossbar. The trim sports a combination of black and blue leather on the aluminium frame race seats, door cards, dash, and console. The door frames and handles, hinges, and latches are made of steel. The bucket seats are upholstered in black vinyl, and an integrated 5-point Simpson brand racing harness secures the driver in place.
Period correct pressure, temperature, fuel level and voltmeter gauges, along with an array of switches and vents are mounted on the leather wrapped dash, with a speedometer to the left of the quick-release wood steering wheel, and a tachometer to the right. The indicator lights on the dash are illuminated in red, green, and blue.
Powering the Daytona Coupe is a 302-cu in. Ford Racing V8 engine. This powertrain is said to propel the Daytona from 0-60 in less than four seconds. The V8 engine has been modified with an Edelbrock top end intake manifold system, a stainless intake pipe kit and white-ceramic coated headers. A braided fuel line system feeds the engine while an MSD ignition system provides spark. The Ford Racing engine is rated at 345 horsepower and 330 lb. ft of torque, however due to the modifications these numbers are likely higher. Adjustable control arms are an unequal length, with coil-over Koni shock suspension. The rear suspension is an FFR 3-link kit.
