This second generation SLK350 sports car has a grille that is integrated with the boot lid and centred with a large three-pointed Mercedes-Benz star. Fog lights are set within the lower grille. Air vents are located at the top of the hood near the windshield. Oblong Bi-Xenon headlights stretch high up along the fenders, finishing in line with the front of the wheel wells. Turn signal lighting is incorporated into the side view mirrors. SLK350 and three-point star chrome badging is placed on the trunk lid, and the twin chrome-tipped exhaust outlets are an oblong design. The SLK350 has 17” wheels at staggered widths, 225/45ZR17 at the front, and 245/40ZR17 at the back, and ABS disc brakes with electronic brake force distribution and brake assist.
The cockpit is upholstered in black leather accompanied by aluminized accents and silver-painted seat frames constructed of lightweight magnesium. The seats are 8-way power adjustable, heated, and equipped with Airscarf neckwarmer vents. Passengers are further provided with dual zone climate control, smart dual airbags, cruise control, seat belt tensioners with force limiters, automatic TeleAid collision notification, and remote keyless entry. A multi-function tilting and telescopic three-spoke steering wheel fronts a 260 km/hr speedometer with an inset analog clock, and a tachometer with an inset fuel level gauge. Steering is a rack and pinion design. The SLK350 is further equipped with an anti-theft system, Harmon Kardon Logic7 surround sound, and an LCD display.
The RWD Mercedes-Benz SLK350 is powered by a 3.5-liter DOHC V6 with variable valve timing paired with a 7-speed automatic transmission with a short-throw linkage. This M272 engine is factory rated at 268 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque when new. It has a claimed zero-to-60 mph of 5.5 seconds.
