Built on the W220 platform, this fourth generation S-Class has a front fascia with four horizontal aluminium grille slats, Xenon headlights, and a Mercedes-Benz three-pointed star centering the hood. The bumpers, door handles, and body side mouldings are body coloured with chrome accents. The doors feature a soft-close.
The sideview mirrors are auto-dimming and contain turn signal lighting. Chrome S430 badging is found on the left side of the trunk lid, with another Benz star at its centre. The rear window is blue tinted and the car comes equipped with a powered tilting and sliding sunroof.
This S430 rides on 7-spoke 16” Mercedes branded light-alloy wheels wrapped in Michelin Premier all season tires, 225/60R16 all around with ABS disc brakes. Aiding to the comfortable ride that the S430 offers is an air suspension system. The Mercedes-Benz S430 is 203 inches long, 57 inches high, and 73 inches wide, with a 122 inch wheelbase and a curb weight of 4,133 lbs.
Inside the cabin, seating for five is upholstered in Saffron Nappa leather with wood accents on the doors, dash, and centre console. The front seats are heated and 14-way power adjustable with lumbar support. This car is equipped with a memory package for the seats, steering column, and rearview mirror, the latter of which is auto-dimming.
The infotainment system employs Mercedes’ COMAND interface. Dual zone climate controls and audio controls are found on the centre console, the latter controlling 10 Bose speakers and 1 subwoofer. The 2002 Mercedes-Benz S430 is powered by a 4.3-liter 24-valve V8 producing 275 horsepower at 5,750 rpm and 295 lb-ft of torque at 3,000 rpm when new. This is mated to a 5-speed automatic transmission driving the rear wheels. Suspension is a fully independent design, double wishbone at the front and multi-link at the rear featuring an Air-strut system as well. Records located in the documents gallery show service in 2022 included a replaced air suspension compressor, a new rear tail light, and new valve stems.
