This 1998 Mercedes-Benz SL500 is a US-spec model finished in Black (paint code #9040) over a black leather interior. This two-door convertible is powered by a 5.0-liter V8 engine paired with a five-speed automatic transmission. It is currently registered in Alberta with a clean, normal status and has approximately 107k-miles on the odometer. Originally sold new in California, the vehicle was imported to Canada in 2005 and spent time in British Columbia before being acquired by the seller earlier this year. A Carfax report, available in the gallery, shows records of one minor vandalism claim and one minor accident claim. A picture of the damaged bumper prior to the repair is included in the gallery.

The seller confirms that the SL500 recently passed an out-of-province inspection for Alberta. Based on the R129 platform, this fourth-generation SL features a front fascia with six horizontal aluminum grille slats, highlighted by a prominent Mercedes-Benz three-pointed star at the center. Both the soft top and removable hardtop are included with the sale.
Stopping power is provided by four-wheel disc brakes. The car rides on 18” Mercedes-Benz 5-spoke alloy wheels, fitted with Continental Extreme Contact DWS tires sized 245/45ZR18 in the front and 275/35ZR18 at the rear.
Inside, the SL500 offers multi-adjustable power seats for two, upholstered in black leather. It comes equipped with several safety and convenience features, including airbags, rain-sensing wipers, power windows and locks, air conditioning, cruise control, and a rear window defogger.
The leather-wrapped steering wheel fronts a traditional analog instrument cluster with a 160-mph speedometer in the center, a 7k-rpm tachometer to the right, and fuel and auxiliary gauges to the left. Steering is managed through a recirculating ball design. An aftermarket Kenwood stereo system has also been installed.
The RWD Mercedes-Benz SL500 is powered by a 5.0-liter Bosch fuel injected V8 producing 302 horsepower and 339 lb-ft of torque when new. This is mated to a 5-speed automatic overdrive transmission. Suspension design is fully independent with coil springs at all four corners.
