Description
Located in Kleinberg, Ontario (North of Toronto) this is a 1989 Honda Z50R mini dirt bike finished in a rare red and white colour combination only available in 88' & 89'. White and red plastic trim is used for the side covers, fenders, and fork cover. It is powered by an 49 cc air-cooled OHC single-cylinder four-stroke engine with a 3-speed automatic transmission. The Honda Z50R was produced by the Japanese manufacturer from 1979 to 1999, and developed for dirt biking on a track as opposed to a trail. It was often used as a light-weight mini racing motorcycle.
Registration papers are not included in the sale however, for US bidders, this Honda Z50 is directly importable without modification as it is EPA & DOT exempt being greater than 25 years old. For more information on transport in Canada/USA and import, please visit our Transport Import page here.
1988-89 were the only year that this body work in a white and red theme was offered, making this an extremely rare and restored example.
The fenders are Blaze Red, while the frame, number plates, and wheels are Shasta White.
The fuel tank has Honda 50R script and a flying wing design. The chain guard and upswept exhaust are satin black. Drivers foot pegs are mounted mid-ship. The Z50R has a 35 inch wheelbase and a dry weight of 109 lbs.
The Z50R will be sold on a bill of sale, registration papers are not available and it is not road-legal in Canada.
The solo seat is trimmed in a red vinyl with white painted Honda and large Z logos on both sides. The seat is original to the bike and has not been restored. All the safety warnings labels and stickers are Honda original which speaks to the condition of the bike.
The rear suspension setup is a dual coil over strut system with white springs to match the frame mounted to the swingarm.
A dual inverted fork upfront manages the suspension for the rider. Two-piece white painted 8″ steel wheels equip the Z50R while the tires are brand new with the stickers still on them and match the specification originally from factory. Braking is supplied by drums at each wheel.
The Z50R is powered by a 49cc four-stroke engine with a single piston and features a single-overhead camshaft, a kick starter, a Keihin 11mm carburetor, and a satin black-finished high-mount exhaust system with heat shields. The engine casing features a bronze finish which matches the factory specification. The engine was just rebuilt by the seller and all components needing replacement have been replaced as needed. The Factory-rated output was 2.8 horsepower and 2.2 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheel through a three-speed transmission with an automatic clutch along with a drive chain.
