Description
This is a 1987 BMW 325i finished in Jet Black (paint code #668) with a black convertible top over a black leather interior. This 2-door sport compact convertible is powered by a rebuilt 2.5-liter SOHC fuel injected inline-six paired to a 5-speed manual transmission driving the rear wheels. The odometer currently reads approx. 379K-kms, with approx. 200K-kms said to be on the recently installed engine. This car was imported from California and is now registered in Alberta with a clean and (Normal) status. The 325i is a BMW E30 model; these were produced by the German manufacturer from 1982 to 1994.
For US bidders, this 325i is directly importable without modification as it is EPA & DOT exempt being greater than 25 years old. For more information on transport/import please visit our Transport/Import page here.
The front fascia of this Jet Black 325i features two twin unit headlamps set within an array of black horizontal slats, an anodized aluminium “diving board” bumper sitting above a black air dam, and BMW badging above the small chrome-framed kidney grille. Black rubber body sill moldings run across the length of the vehicle, and a third brake light is mounted at the top centre of the trunk lid. This car has a curb weight of 2,982 lbs and a 53/47 weight distribution front to back.
Stopping power is provided by Teves MK IV electronic ABS anti lock brakes, with vacuum power-assisted vented discs at the front and solid discs at the rear with single-piston callipers all around. The 15-spoke 17” BSA wheels are a light alloy wrapped in Kumho Ecsta all season tires, 215/40R17 at the front and rear. Some curb rash is noted and visible in the gallery.
With seating for four, this BMW 325i has been reupholstered in black leather, with a black plastic dash and console, a leather wrapped shifter, and padded leather on the door panels. The floor panels are covered in grey carpet. Windows and mirrors are powered. A Sony CD player is wired to Kenwood speakers, with climate controls accessible beneath the CD head unit. The car also comes equipped with an onboard computer mounted in the centre console; a digital meter providing live data concerning trip times, average speeds, fuel ranges, and other important statistics.
The three-spoke BMW steering wheel fronts an analog instrument cluster with a 240 km/hr speedometer to the left and a 7K rpm tachometer to the right. A crack is present beneath the steering wheel column and visible in the gallery.
The 1987 BMW 325i is powered by a water-cooled BMW M20B25 engine, recently replaced and installed by Motorwerks in Calgary; this is a 2.5-liter iron-block inline-six with light aluminium alloy headers, an overhead cam and 2 valves per cylinder. Fuel injection is managed by a Bosch Motronic system. This powerhouse is factory rated at 168 hp at 5,800 rpm and 167 lb-ft of torque at 4,300 rpm. The 325i had a claimed zero-to-60 mph of 7.5 seconds when new. The E30 suspension system incorporates front MacPherson struts and coaxial coil springs at the front and semi-trailing arms with transverse links at the rear.
