This is a 1977 Toyota Celica GT finished in White (paint code #023) over a Caramel interior. This Japanese coupe is powered by a 2.2-liter 20R inline-4 cylinder engine mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. This vehicle was purchased by the seller in 2018, and is currently registered in British Columbia with a clean and (Normal) status, with approx. 34k-miles on the odometer, less than 800 km being added by the seller during his ownership period. The seller mentions this Celica GT is entirely orignal and it was stored in the display room of Heninger Toyota from 1992 to 2017.

The seller has included a letter from Henninger Toyota detailing its history, it states the following "On June 8th, 1977, Mr. Jim Pugh purchased this Toyota Celica brand new from frontier Toyota in Winnipeg for the cash price of $5990. some 12 years later he sold this car to his son, Jeffery, who lives in Calgary. On July 15th, 1992, jeffery came to Heninger Toyota and traded his 1977 Celica for a 1990 Toyota pick-up. He received trade-in allowance of $6000 and agreed to this trade arrangement on the condition that Heninger Toyota would not offer his old Celica for resale, but keep it on display. This suits us just fine, and we hope you enjoy this example of Toyota’s excellent quality, endurance, and lasting value."

Toyota coined the term liftback to describe the Celica’s fastback-style hatchback. 1977 was the last year of the first generation Celica. This example features rocker panel stripes and steel wheels with chrome trim rings, unique to the top-line GT. The bumpers are chrome with shock absorbing overriders and side caps made of black rubber. The Celica liftback has a raised hood to accommodate the larger 20R motor. The front fascia has a flat nose with round dual twin headlamps and a honeycomb grille with GT badging. The rear quarter windows are fixed and accented by a set of curved vertical louvers on the C-pillar. The taillights are three vertical bars, in keeping with the pony car styling that Toyota sought to replicate. The Celica rides on 14” steel wheels wrapped in Dunlop SP steel belted radial tires, 185/70SR14 all around, with disc brakes at the front and drums at the rear. Some paint chips are present, and visible in the imperfections gallery. The Toyota Celica is 164 inches long, 63 inches wide, and 53 inches high, with a 95 inch wheelbase.

The cabin features caramel brown vinyl seating with ribbed knitted tape yarn inserts, and wood grain trim on the full length centre console, the instrumentation panel, and the door cards. The front bucket seats fold forward providing access to the back seats. A four-spoke steering wheel fronts analog instrumentation with recessed gauges and an 8K rpm tachometer. The shifter and emergency brake are also wrapped in leather, black in colour to match the housings for the push button AM/FM radio, climate controls, and circular vents. The glove compartment locks and bears a Celica script nameplate. The beige headliner is sagging in some places. The carpet and visors are also beige. A spare tire is mounted in the trunk, which is illuminated upon opening the hatch.

For US bidders, this Celica GT is directly importable without modification as it is EPA & DOT exempt being greater than 25 years old. For more information on transport/import please visit our Transport/Import page here.

The 20R engine has a cylinder bore and stroke of 88.5 mm x 89 mm, aluminium alloy cross-flow heads with hemispherical combustion chambers, and came rated at 96 horsepower at 4,800 rpm and 119 lb-ft of torque at 2,800 rpm. The seller notes that the oil and fuel filter were recently changed, and the fuel tank was cleaned.
