Description
This is a 1989 TVR S2 Convertible finished in Arctic White over a grey leather interior with blue piping. This rare 2-door sport convertible is powered by a front mounted Ford 2.9-liter V6 engine driving the rear wheels by way of a 5-speed manual transmission. This vehicle is currently registered in Quebec with apx. 55K-kms reading on the odometer. The TVR S Series, encompassing the S1, S2, S3, S4, and V8S, was produced by the British manufacturer from 1987 to 1994. A total of 2,604 S Series TVR vehicles were built in their seven year production run. The unveiling of the first TVR S at the 1986 British International Motor Show produced such an overwhelmingly positive response that 250 pre-orders were made, becoming TVR Motors Company Ltd’s most successful model to date.

This TVR S2 has a glass fibre body shell and a curb weight of 2,072 lbs. It measures 156 inches long, 57 inches wide, and 44 inches high, with a 90 inch wheelbase. It sports five-spoke 15” TVR alloy wheels riding on Michelin Premier all season tires, 205/60R15 all around. Disc brakes are found at the front, drums at the rear, with servo. The S-Series took many of its styling cues from TVR’s M series line of the Seventies - most resembling the last of that series, the 3000S, with its recessed round headlamps with chrome surrounds, high wheel arches, and reflective side markers. The fuel cap, door handles, and TVR badging on the hood and beneath the integrated duck tail spoiler of this S2 are chrome. 1989 brought the addition of fog lamps installed beneath the front bumper. Other notable features include the open-mouth front valance, hood scoop, and centred twin chrome exhaust outlets. The hybrid convertible roof allows the car to double as a targa and conventional roadster.

The interior two-seater cabin of this TVR S2 is complete with grey leather bucket seats with navy piping on the seats and door panels, with a padded navy leather dash, navy leather shifter surround, and burled walnut wood trim on the passenger storage compartment and surrounding the climate controls. The dash and middle console are seamlessly integrated. Matching navy blue carpeting is found throughout, and the instrumentation is set within grey padded leather. The four-spoke TVR steering wheel fronts an analog gauge cluster with a 270kph speedometer to the left and an 8k-rpm tachometer to the right. Steering is a rack and pinion design. The stereo system is an Alpine unit with speakers mounted at the foot of the doors and behind the storage shelf, which provides ample room for easily accessible bags.

The 1989 TVR S2 is powered by a naturally aspirated 2.9-liter 12-valve Ford Cologne V6 paired to a 5-speed manual transmission driving the rear wheels. This was rated at 170 horsepower and 172 lb-ft of torque when new, accelerating the car to a claimed 60 mph in 6.9 seconds with a top speed of 133 mph. The engine uses a chain-driven camshaft and fuel injection. The S2’s wedge-shaped chassis is shared with its sibling, the TVR Tasmin. This is a steel tubular backbone chassis, supported by fully independent rear suspension.
