Description
This is a 1968 Chevrolet Nova SS finished in a Metallic black finish over a matching black vinyl interior. This Nova is believed to be an original SS 4-speed manual car and it is powered by 327 cubic inch V8 that was sourced from a 1965 Corvette. The Chevrolet Nova was produced over the span of five generations from 1962-1979 and 1985-1988. Designed with GM’s X-body platform, the Chevrolet Nova was designed by the American automaker to satisfy the public demand for a functional, fast, back-to-basics compact car. Originally released as the Chevy II, with Nova describing just the top trim line, in 1969, the Nova name took over for the entire marque and 251,900 Novas were sold. This pristine third generation Chevrolet Nova is currently registered in Alberta with a clean and (Normal) registration status. The odometer reads approximately 60K-miles.
For US bidders, this Nova is directly importable without modification as it is EPA & DOT exempt being greater than 25 years old. For more information on transport/import please visit our Transport/Import page here.
This fastback late Sixties Nova coupe features round headlights are set within square chrome housings framing a chrome grille with horizontal slats. Turn signals lights are integrated into the chrome bumper. The Chevy bowtie emblem centres the hood and Nova script is found on the fenders behind the wheel well. Cosmetic air intakes adorn the hood as well. At the front of the fenders, 327 badging accompanies orange side marker lights.
The window bezels and side view mirrors are chrome. Modified dual exhaust outlets emanate from beneath the car’s uncomplicated chrome bumper and straight bar tail lights. The trunk lid badge reads “Chevy II by Chevrolet”. This Nova rides on period correct 14” wheels with chrome Chevy hubcaps wrapped in BF Goodrich Radial T/A tires. The Chevrolet Nova is 189 inches long, 72 inches wide, and 52 inches high, with a 111 inch wheelbase and a curb weight of 3,330 lbs.
The exterior of the Nova was reportedly repainted approximately 4-years ago while under prior ownership and shows some minor imperfections. Inside, this Chevy Nova has a three spoke Chevy-branded steering wheel which fronts a strip-style 120 mph speedometer with heater defroster sliders situated to the left and an AM radio player is found to the right.
Black Vinyl leather upholstery is found on the front and back bench seats, door panels, and dash, and the car is equipped with matching black lap belts. A stamped Nova nameplate is found on the passenger side dash. The seller notes that all the interior gauges are functioning accurately and that a new headline and carpets were recently installed.
The original engine has been replaced in favour of a 65’ small block 327 engine that was sourced from a 65’ Corvette, boasting double bump heads, a Holley 650 carburetor, a mild custom cam, and specialized headers. The vehicle also comes equipped with a 10-volt posi rear end, enhanced front disc brakes, and a completely renewed front end. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 4-Speed manual transmission.
