This is a 1973 BMW 3.0CS finished in Polaris Silver (paint code #060) over a black leather and wood trim interior. This 3.0CS is powered by a 3.0-liter M30 inline-six cylinder engine paired to a 4-speed manual transmission. The mechanical odometer shows just under. This 3.0CS is currently registered in Alberta with an active and (Normal) registrations status in the sellers name. This classic E9 coupe was purchased by the seller in 2019; it is a US spec example as per its vin number. Equipment highlights include power windows, air conditioning, a CSL style front valance, an Alpina steering wheel and Alpina wheels, and a Nakamichi stereo head unit wired to aftermarket Pioneer speakers. The 3.0CS was produced by the German automaker from 1971 to 1975, with only 4,455 produced in that time and just 779 examples released in 1973.
For US bidders, this BMW 3.0CS is directly importable without modification as it is EPA & DOT exempt being greater than 25 years old. For more information on transport/import please visit our Transport/Import page here.
In 1968, BMW perfected the look of their flagship coupe’s front fascia - with a sporty “sharknose” hood, kidney grilles surrounded with chrome, and rounded headlamps set within the black horizontal slats of the grille. This example has been repainted Polaris Silver over the car’s original blue finish and a CSL-style lower valance has been added beneath the chrome front bumper.
Amber turn signals and horizontal black gills grace the fenders, and BMW badges are featured on the hood, trunk lid, and C-pillars. Bar shaped taillights are set within chrome bezels beneath 3.0CS chrome script.
The car rides on aftermarket 20-spoke 16” Alpina aluminium alloy wheels wrapped in Firestone Firehawk tubeless radial tires, 205/55R16 at the front, and 225/50R16 at the back with disc brakes.
Inside the cabin, seating for four is upholstered in black leather with ribbed inserts. The dash and doors have wood trim, and chrome brightwork is found throughout. The centre console contains air conditioning controls and an aftermarket Nakamichi stereo head unit wired to Pioneer TS-X9 speakers that sit neatly upon the parcel shelf.
The power window switches are situated on the chrome surround of a leather-wrapped shifter with resin-coated BMW badging.
A four-spoke leather-wrapped Alpina steering wheel fronts a set of four VDO gauges with an 8K tachometer and a clock to the right, and a 240 km/hr speedometer and auxiliary gauges to the left. A factory toolkit is encased within the trunk lid, though most tools are not present. New carpeting and the original tire jack are included in the sale.
The BMW 3.0CS is powered by a 3.0-liter M30 inline-six cylinder engine mated to a 4-speed manual transmission. The M30B28V version of the M30 engine found in the E9 3.0CS has a 9.0:1 compression ratio, dual Zenith 35/40 INAT carburetors, and an output rated at 170 horsepower at 5,800 rpm and 188 lb-ft of torque at 3,700 when new. The car has a claimed top speed of 205 km/hr. The seller notes that a 200-point roadworthy inspection was performed in 2018 by Adria Import Automotive in Vancouver at a cost of $13,000.
