Description
This 1999 Indian Chief represents #517 out of 1,100 examples produced during the inaugural year following the model's reintroduction by the Gilroy, California-based Indian Motorcycle Company of America. Adorned in a Raven Black finish, this bike is propelled by an air-cooled 1,442cc V-twin engine mated to a five-speed manual transmission. Notable features include a Corbin solo saddle, a sleek two-into-one exhaust, chrome-finished fork sliders and lowers, disc brakes with billet calipers, and auxiliary driving lights.
With only 4 kilometers displayed on the mechanical odometer, this Chief is presented for sale by the dealer on behalf of its original owner. Acquired brand new in 1999 from an Indian motorcycle dealership in Calgary, the bike was meticulously stored in a climate-controlled garage and never registered. It will be sold with a bill of sale.
Instrumentation includes a 220-kph speedometer alongside a five-digit odometer indicating only 4 kilometers.
The S&S 1,442cc V-twin engine, factory rated at 75 horsepower, features an S&S Super E carburetor, electronic ignition, and a distinctive two-into-one exhaust system adorned with the Indian logo.
Power is transmitted to the rear wheel via a five-speed manual gearbox and belt drive mechanism.
Rolling on chrome 60-spoke wire wheels measuring 16 inches, the bike is equipped with Firestone tires and braking is managed by front and rear discs paired with polished billet four-piston calipers.
Suspension duties are handled by a telescopic front fork with chromed sliders and lowers, complemented by a rear monoshock.
For US bidders, this Chief is directly importable without modification as it is EPA & DOT exempt being greater than 25 years old. For more information on transport/import please visit our Transport/Import page here.
Sporting a 4.7-gallon fuel tank and fenders also finished in Raven Black, this Chief boasts additional amenities such as a teardrop headlight, side stand, driving lights, and chrome mirrors and trim.
Recently taken out of storage, the bike received a new battery, carburetor cleaning, fresh fuel, and an oil change.
