Description
This is a 1968 Alfa Romeo GT 1300 coupe finished in French Blue over a black leather interior. It is powered by a rebuilt 1.3-liter twin-cam inline-four cylinder engine mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. This four seater coupe was produced by the Italian automaker from 1965 to 1977. This car is currently registered in Alberta with a clean and (Normal) status, with approximately 2.5K-kms showing on the odometer. The odometer is believed to have rolled over once before. Complete restoration photos and records are included with the sale.
For US bidders, this GT 1300 Junior is directly importable without modification as it is EPA & DOT exempt being greater than 25 years old. For more information on transport/import please visit our Transport/Import page here.
The exterior styling of this GT Junior model variation of Alfa Romeo’s 105/115 series coupes is described as a “stepnose,” referring to the stylish falloff at the front edge of the hood and fenders.
The front fascia sports single rounded headlamps and a single chrome slat centred by Alfa Romeo’s signature V-shaped grille. The stylish Italian coupe has curved glass at the front and back, chrome bumpers and window trimmings, and a single exhaust outlet that emanates at an angle on the left side at the rear. The Alfa left the factory spec'd in a Verde Muschio which was a dark green colour and during the resotration it was repainted its current dark blue.
A GT1300 scripting emblem centres the trunk lid. This GT 1300 Junior rides on 14” telephone-dial style wheels with Alfa Romeo centre caps wrapped in Classiro GT tires, 185/70R14 with disc brakes all around.
Inside the cabin, seating for four is upholstered in black leatherette with ribbed inserts and black piping.
A two-spoke steering wheel with an Alfa Romeo badge at its centre fronts an instrumentation panel with Veglia gauges; an 8K rpm tachometer is to the left and a 200 km/hr speedometer is to the right, with water and oil temperature gauges surrounding and a turn blinker illuminated green at the top. The paint-matched glovebox cover is absent in the photos although it is included in the sale.
A Blapunkt radio centres the dash with heater and defroster sliders below marked “aperto” and “chiuso” (open and closed in Italian). Alfa Romeo script is stamped into the chrome door sills, and the rubber floor mats have Alfa Romeo insignia. A spare tire is located beneath the trunk mat.
The 1968 Alfa Romeo GT 1300 is powered by a 1.3-liter twin cam inline-four cylinder engine with dual Weber side draft carburetors rated at 86 horsepower and 85 lb-ft of torque when new. This engine is said to have been completely overhauled during the restoration and has minimal running time since (estimated <500-kms). Power is sent to the rear wheels by way of a 5-speed manual transmission. The GT 1300 Junior has a claimed top speed of 160 km/hr when new.
