Description
This is a 1964 GMC Short box pickup truck with the “Custom” Cab configuration which features a larger rear window. The seller mentions that the body and frame of the truck underwent a restoration in 2013 under a previous ownership. The seller mentions the powertrain including the engine, transmission and some auxiliary mechanical systems are approximately two years old. Many features were updated/upgraded to transform this truck into a retromod experience. More powertrain details to follow.
The body is finished in candy apple red metallic paint with a pearl white painted roof and B-pillar. This truck is currently registered in Alberta and it is located in Leduc, AB. It is offered for sale privately out of the current owner’s private collection. The seller mentions he purchased the truck in 2020 and immediately overhauled the suspension. The seller notes that he has added approximately 100km under his ownership.
The seller mentions that the truck has covered approx. 600 kms since the engine and transmission install 2 years ago. The body features a 2-door cab, a front chrome bumper, double-dual headlights, chrome badges and the hood is said to have been retrofitted from a same-era Chevrolet truck for a preference in appearance.
During the body restoration the truck bed was restored with a wooden slat bed-floor and painted rear wheel arches.
The truck wears Eagle Alloy wheels measuring 15” at all for corners. The wheels are wrapped in Goodyear Eagle GT tires sized 215/65R15 in the front and EL Dorado Vision GTS tires sized 295/50/R15 in the rear putting the power to the ground.
The seller notes small paint chips on the hood and along the body. Pictures of these imperfections are included in the gallery below.
The dash features aftermarket Speedhut red-faced gauges that display Water temp., battery voltage, Oil pressure and fuel metrics. A matching speedometer and tachometer are also mounted in the dash. True-mileage is unknown on this truck.
The original steering wheel has been replaced in favor of a four spoke Brandt steering wheel. The seats have been reupholstered with a faux-carbon fiber weave vinyl with red piping. The original carpet was also replaced with newer black carpeting. A Kenwood radio was installed to update the interior and it features Bluetooth and hand-free calling.
The seller mentions that he has invoices totaling $31,000 spent over the last two year upgrading the power train of the truck. Highlights of these upgrades include a BluePrint 400CI Crate engine a 700 R4 4-speed automatic transmission, a March Pulley system, Electric colling fans, a custom 3” exhaust, a Ford 9” Rear-end coupled to an Auburn 4.11 Positraction., Disc-brakes at all corners, Holley fuel pump, etc.
The engine is a 400 cu in. GM style small block from the Manufacturer BluePrint. This company manufactures and machines all their blocks new in USA and the particular engine in this truck utilizes an Iron block. The seller mentions this engine features a forged crankshaft, forged pistons and a Holley carburetor. The seller has included a Dyno record for the engine from the manufacturer showing a peak of 527 hp and 513 lb ft. torque. Underbody pictures are also included in the gallery below.
