This is a 1999 BMW 540i finished in Jet Black (paint code #668) over a black leather interior. This E39 540i is powered by a 4.4-liter DOHC V8 paired with a 5-speed automatic overdrive transmission. The 540i variant of the 5-series was produced by BMW from 1995 to 2003. This all-original 5-series sedan is currently registered in Ontario with an active and (Normal) status, and just 115k-kms on the odometer.

This 540i has a kidney grille with chrome slats and a chrome surround beneath BMW badging centering the hood. Headlights are auto-levelling Xenon units with washers, and fog lights are integrated into the valence framing the lower grille. The seller points out that there is some paint chipping at the front and a slight imperfection in the front bumper, visible in the gallery.
The sunroof and mirrors are powered. At the rear are found a BMW resin coated badge and a chrome 540i emblem - the i refers to a short wheelbase model. The rear bumper was re-sprayed after an accident causing minor damage.
16” BMW badged 15-spoke wheels are wrapped in Firestone tires measuring 225/55HR16 all around, with ventilated four-wheel disc brakes. Some curb rash is present. A spare set of winter wheels and tires are included in the sale. The BMW 540i measures 188 inches long, 71 inches wide, and 57 inches high, with a 111 inch wheelbase and a curb weight of 3,803 lbs.
Inside the cabin, seating for five is upholstered in black leather with burled wood accents on the shifter, console, dash, and doors. The front seats are 10-way powered and heated, and the windows are powered. Window controls are located on the driver's door along with air vents, and hideaway cup holders are located on the centre console beneath the air conditioning and telematics controls.
A four-spoke BMW badged tilting and telescopic multi-function steering wheel fronts a 250 km/hr speedometer to the left and a 7K rpm tachometer to the right, with auxiliary gauges surrounding and an orange-lit digital display below. Steering is a variable ratio, variable assist, rack and pinion design.
Further convenience and safety features on the 540i include cruise control, traction control, remote keyless entry and remote start, a rear window defogger, child safety locks, power door locks, and front and side airbags.
The 1999 540i is powered by BMW’s M62TÜ engine; a 4.4-liter V8 with dual overhead cams and four valves per cylinder sending power to the rear wheels by way of a 5-speed automatic overdrive transmission. This is rated at 282 horsepower at 5,400 rpm and 325 lb-ft of torque at 3,600 rpm. The 540i rides on a fully independent suspension with coil springs at the spring and air springs at the rear. The seller notes that the battery was recently replaced, an oil and filter change was performed, and the valve covers were serviced. He mentions further that some bushings and the transmission fluid were replaced by the previous owner, and the brakes were serviced in 2021.
