Description
This 2001 Mercedes-Benz S55 AMG is propelled by a hand-built AMG 5.5-liter V8 coupled with a five-speed automatic transmission and displays a Brilliant Silver Metallic exterior over Ash Nappa leather upholstery. Noteworthy features include 19″ AMG two-piece wheels, a glass sunroof, xenon headlights, heated and ventilated front seats, heated and reclining rear seats, and a Dolby sound system. This Kuwait-market W220 S55 AMG was procured by the seller in 2018 and subsequently imported from Japan into Canada. The seller points out that, aside from the front bumper, which underwent repainting during their ownership, the paint is original.
For US bidders
Because this S55 is a Japanese import and under 25 years old, it must be imported through a registered importer that will assess what modifications need to be done to meet DOT and EPA standards. For more information on transport in Canada/USA and Import, please visit our Transport/Import page here.
Distinguishing itself from the standard W220, the S55 AMG boasts enhanced front and rear valances and sill extensions, all coated in Brilliant Silver Metallic (744). The equipment roster includes xenon headlights with heated washers, a power glass sunroof, door and trunk closing assist, Keyless-Go, polished dual exhaust outlets, and heated power-folding mirrors with integrated signals.
Rolling on 19″ AMG two-piece wheels wrapped in 245/40 front and 275/35 rear Kuhmo Wintercraft tires, the car has never braved winter conditions, though the seller fitted it with these winter tires for a short road trip last fall. A set of summer tires is included in the sale. Airmatic suspension and a four-wheel anti-lock braking system with Brembo four-piston front calipers over cross-drilled rotors as well as traction and stability control add to the car's performance credentials.
Minor rock chips on the hood, consistent with the vehicle's age and mileage, are noted by the seller, as is the wear on some steering wheel buttons. The black leather-upholstered heated and ventilated dynamic multi-contour front seats and heated and reclining rear seats contribute to the luxurious interior.
Creature comforts include dual-zone automatic climate control, front-seat position memory, walnut wood trim, an electric rear window shade, and a Dolby sound system. The multifunction steering wheel frames a 320-kph speedometer, a tachometer with a 6k-rpm redline, and gauges for coolant temperature and fuel level. The digital odometer reads approximately ~123k-kms, with the seller adding around 13k-kms during their five years of ownership.
The 5.5-liter M113 V8, factory-rated at 355 horsepower and 391 lb-ft of torque, channels power to the rear wheels through a five-speed automatic transmission. Recent service records under the seller's ownership include new brake rotors and pads, a new blower motor and controller, along with a fresh oil change and transmission fluid service including fresh fluid, a new filter and pan gasket and a new electrical adapter plug.
