Description
This 1987 BMW 325i is finished in Schwarz Black (paint code #086) with a red convertible top over a Cardinal Red Bison leather interior. This 2-door sport compact convertible is powered by a 2.5-liter inline-six paired to a 4-speed automatic transmission. The 325i is a BMW E30 model; these were produced by the German manufacturer from 1982 to 1994. Equipment highlights include 14” basketweave wheels, heated front sport seats, cruise control, and air conditioning. This car is registered in Alberta with an active and (Normal) status and approx. 166K-km on the odometer. The included Carfax shows an accident-free history.
For US bidders, this 325i is directly importable without modification as it is EPA & DOT exempt being greater than 25 years old. For more information on transport/import please visit our Transport/Import page here.
This E30 features a euro-spec grille with dual twin unit Smiley headlamps set within an array of black horizontal slats, an anodized aluminium “diving board” bumper sitting above a black valance, and BMW badging on the contoured hood above a chrome-framed kidney grille. Black bone lines run the length of the vehicle, and the window bezels are chrome. The antenna is powered. 325i and BMW badging accent the trunk lid, which has a third brake light mounted at the top. Dual exhaust tips exit at an angle on the drivers side.
14” basketweave wheels are wrapped in BF Goodrich Traction tires, P165/65R14 all around. Stopping power is provided by Teves MK IV electronic ABS anti lock brakes, with vacuum power-assisted vented discs at the front and solid discs at the rear with single-piston callipers all around. This car has a curb weight of 2,982 lbs and a 53/47 weight distribution front to back. The seller mentions that the windshield washer nozzles are not functioning, and a paint correction was performed in 2020.
Inside the cabin, seating for four is upholstered in Cardinal Red Bison leather. The sport seats up front are heated and manually adjustable with slide-out thigh support. The door panels are also padded leather. The centre console angles toward the driver and contains a Dolby cassette and radio, a trip computer, and air conditioning controls. The floor panels are covered in grey carpet. Windows, locks, and mirrors are powered.
A three-spoke BMW badged steering wheel with tricolour M stitching has been installed and fronts VDO instrumentation with a 240 km/hr speedometer to the left and a 7K rpm tachometer to the right, with auxiliary gauges surrounding and indicator lights below. The fuel economy gauge is not functional. The original trunk-mounted factory toolkit is included. Wear is evident on the driver seat bolster and visible in the gallery, and the seller notes that the passenger sun visor does not stay up.
The 1987 BMW 325i is powered by a water-cooled BMW M20B25 engine; this is a 2.5-liter iron-block inline-six with light aluminium alloy headers and Bosch Motronic fuel injection. This is factory rated at 168 hp at 5,800 rpm and 167 lb-ft of torque at 4,300 rpm. A 4-speed automatic transmission drives the rear wheels. Work carried out since 2020 includes an engine bay cleaning as well as replacement of the following components:
- Timing belt
- Water pump
- Valve cover gasket
- Thermostat
- Engine frost plug
- Camshaft seal
- Crankshaft seal
- Oil pan gasket
- Timing cover gasket
- Accessory belts
- Coolant level sensor
- Washer level sensor
- Ignition cap and rotor
- Spark plugs and wires
Furthermore, a dry ice cleaning was performed and undercoating was applied to the chassis in April 2022. Subsequent work has included installation of a Bilstein suspension lowering kit and stainless-steel brake lines, along with replacement of the brake pads, rotors, and fluid.
