Description

This a 1971 Chevelle finished in emerald green metallic paint over a black vinyl interior. This Chevelle was sold new at Brooks Chevrolet in Calgary, AB on September 24th, 1971 as per the stamp on the original warranty slip, which is pictured and included along with other various original documentation. The Chevelle has remained registered in Alberta since sold new and remained within the original owners family up until 2006 when the current owner and seller acquired it. Shortly after purchase, in 2007 the seller commissioned a frame-off restoration, which included rebuilding and refinishing ever aspect of the Chevelle. Photos during the restoration process are included in the gallery below. The emerald green metallic re-paint is a nod to the original paint colour which was Lime green (paint code: 43). For US bidders, this Chevelle is directly importable without modification as it is EPA & DOT exempt being greater than 25 years old. During the restoration process the body was stripped to bare metal where it was then primed and repainted emerald green metallic on a rotisserie. Besides the repaint, the exterior has been slightly modified starting with the removal the black Vinyl roof cover in favour of a painted finish. The original hood was replaced in favour of a raised cowl hood and an aftermarket true-dual stainless exhaust expels out the rear. The exterior features dual halogen headlights, a slick top (no sunroof), chrome window trim, chrome wheel arch trim, chrome mirrors, chrome Chevelle badges and a chrome grill. The seller notes imperfections including minor rock chips on the front end and light scratches in the rear windows.

The 15” chrome wheels are wrapped in Hankook Mileage Plus II tires which measure 215/70R15 in the front and 275/70R15. The original drum brakes have been upgraded in the front with a disk brake system. Both front and rear sway-bars have been upgraded as well. A walk around video, warm-rev video and various undercarriage photos are viewable in the gallery below.

The interior of the Chevelle was reupholstered during the restoration in black vinyl on the front/rear seats while chrome buckled lap belts keep the passengers secure. The door cards are also trimmed in vinyl and the manual window rollers have wooden handles. A four spoke steering wheel fronts a horizontally sweeping 120mph speedometer.

The odometer shows just over 73k-miles which the seller believes to be accurate. Amenities include, manually operated front/rear windows, an aftermarket Chevrolet branded radio with an auxiliary input and an aftermarket triple gauge pod below the centre console which displays oil pressure, battery voltage and coolant temp. The transmission is an automatic unit and gears are manually selectable via the centre console selector. The transmission is a three-speed automatic TH350.

Powering the Chevelle is a 350Cu in. V8 that was rebuilt during the restoration in 2007. The engine is said to be in factory specification less the Edelbrock air filter. The Seller has included the factory air breather as well and it is pictured in the trunk of the Chevelle. Power is sent from the V8 to the rear wheels via a 10-bolt rear axle with 2.73:1 gearing.
