In 1968, BMW perfected the look of their flagship E9 coupe’s front fascia - with a sporty “sharknose” hood, kidney grilles surrounded with chrome, and rounded headlamps set within the black horizontal slats of the grille.

This example has a chrome bumper with black rubber overriders, and chrome bone lines and window bezels. Raised amber turn signals and horizontal chrome gills grace the fenders, and BMW badges feature on the hood, trunk lid, and C pillars. The hood hinges from the front. Bar shaped taillights are set within chrome bezels beneath 2800 CS chrome script. The seller mentions the E9 was repainted in its current Ceylon colour during his family's ownership. The seller menitons a scratch on the trunk lid near the rear BMW emblem. The seller mentions E9 is believed to be a rust-free example.

The car rides on its orginal 14” wheels with BMW centre caps wrapped in Yokohama tubeless radial tires, with disc brakes. The 2800 CS is 184 inches long, 66 inches wide, and 54 inches high, with a 103 inch wheelbase and a curb weight of 3,131 lbs.

Inside the cabin, seating for four is upholstered in beige leather. The front seats have matching deep-pile lambswool covers, and the carpeting is brown. The dash and doors have pine wood trim, and chrome brightwork is found throughout the car.

The centre console contains air conditioning controls and a Pioneer stereo head unit with a cassette player. The power window switches are situated on the chrome surround of a leather-wrapped shifter with a wood knob. A voltmeter is installed here. Rear passengers have a fold-down armrest.

A three-spoke polished pine wood grain steering wheel fronts a set of four VDO gauges with an 8K tachometer and a clock to the right, and a 150 mph speedometer and auxiliary gauges to the left. A factory toolkit is encased within the trunk lid, with all the tools present.

The M30B28 version of the M30 engine found in the 2800 CS has a 9.0:1 compression ratio, dual Zenith 35/40 INAT carburetors, and an output rated at 168 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 172 lb-ft of torque at 3,700 when new. The car has a claimed top speed of 205 km/hr. The seller mentions that various spare parts and service records for the car will be included in the sale located in the trunk.
