This is a 1990 Ford Mustang LX SSP finished in Oxford White (paint code #YO) over a grey cloth interior. This numbers matching fox body is powered by a factory supercharged 5.0-liter V8 engine paired to a 5-speed manual transmission. This vehicle is currently registered in Manitoba with a clean and (Normal) status with approximately 95K-miles on the odometer. SSP stands for Special Service Package, as Ford was called upon by law enforcement and other government agencies in the 90's to create a high-powered compact chase car. The Mustang SSP, produced from 1982 to 1993, came outfitted with an 8.8 inch rear end, a 135 amp heavy duty alternator, a radio noise suppression system, and other equipment intended to accommodate federal and state officers. Imported from the US in 1994 by a collector, the car then spent two decades with a Canadian family, before being purchased by the seller. The seller has owned this SSP for approxiamtely one year and has added approx. 1000 kms in that time.
For US bidders, this Mustang SSP is directly importable without modification as it is EPA & DOT exempt being greater than 25 years old. For more information on transport/import please visit our Transport/Import page here.
This 1990 Mustang LX SSP coupe is finished in Oxford White. It has a stiff, lightweight notchback unibody. The Carfax included in the gallery confirms that there are no accidents or insurance claims made on this LX. The daytime running lights, head lights, and turn signal lights on the Mustang SSP are situated in a straight line across the car’s bold nose, and the tail lights are placed at the rear in a similar style solid block. Black rubber bumpers and body side mouldings run the length of the car. The Cervini 1.5 inch cowl induction hood and tinted windows are modifications made by the seller although the original hood is included. Chrome 5.0 emblems grace both fenders, and LX / Ford emblems are mounted on the trunk lid. “Mustang” is embossed into the front bumper and rear valence. The Mustang SSP rides on 15” Ford aluminium alloy telephone dial style wheels shod with Cooper Cobra Radial G/T tires, 215/55R15 at the front and P235/55R15 at the rear. The seller advises that these were recently installed. The car’s original set of tail lights, front side marker lights, a set of cast black 10-hole wheels, front & rear mudflaps are some spare parts included in the sale. These are pictured in the gallery's miscellaneous category.
This upgraded LX trim level Mustang SSP has a two-tone grey interior with seating for four passengers. The orginal seats are included in the sale and shown in the pictures but the seller has opted to install grey cloth seats instead. An aftermarket Pioneer CD player with an auxiliary connection has been installed beneath the climate controls, though the car’s original radio and equaliser come included in the sale. The seller notes that the A/C is inoperational. The seller has equipped this car with a short throw shifter and a boost gauge which keeps track of the supercharger pressure. The four-spoke steering wheel fronts an analog instrument panel with a 7K rpm tachometer to the left and a 160 mph speedometer to the right, with certified calibration inscribed beneath, and auxiliary gauges surrounding. An SRS airbag is installed in the steering wheel, 1990 being the first year for this feature in a Mustang. The car’s calibrated speedometer, deactivated courtesy lights, relocated rear deck release, single key for locking the doors and trunk, reinforced front floor pan, and full size spare tire are all equipment unique to the SSP.
This 1990 Mustang SSP is powered by a supercharged 5.0-liter V8 engine paired to a 5-speed manual transmission. This High Output Ford V8 was equipped with a supercharger at the dealership prior to delivery and is believed to be just one of 15 to have this done. The supercharger boosts its horsepower to an estimated 350 with 300 lb-ft of torque when new. Ford engineers gave it a fierce hydraulic roller camshaft, low restriction exhaust, and a K&N air filter. The SSP also has an 8.8 inch rear end, a 135 amp heavy duty alternator, silicone radiator hoses with aircraft style clamps, a two-piece VASCAR speedometer cable, a heater hose inlet restrictor, an external oil cooler for the automatic transmission, and an engine oil cooler. The seller modified this SSP, adapting it to a 3:55 gear ratio, and installing Shorty headers, weld-in subframe connectors, Koni shocks, off-road X pipes, and a Flowmaster cat-back exhaust. He also shares that the water pump and coolant, fan clutch, PCV valve, thermostat housing, spark plugs, oil and filter, supercharger oil, transmission fluid, clutch pressure plate, flywheel, pilot bearing, and release bearing have all been replaced. The car’s original headers, marker lights, original shocks, flywheel, transmission cross member, smog pump, oil cooler and lines, water pump, MAF sensor, EGR lines, and coil cover are all included in the sale.
