Description
This is a 1971 Buick Riviera finished in blue over a white leather and wood trim interior. This classic luxury coupe is powered by a 7.5-liter V8 engine paired to a 3-speed automatic transmission. With 95K-kms on the odometer, this Buick Riviera is currently registered in Ontario with an active and (Normal) status. The seller is a professional restorer who personally oversaw its restoration. Approximately 3k-kms have been driven since the multi-year restoration was completed.
For US bidders, this Buick Riviera is directly importable without modification as it is EPA & DOT exempt being greater than 25 years old. For more information on transport/import please visit our Transport/Import page here.
In 1971, Buick redesigned the Riviera with pronounced “boat-tail” styling - with a sporty fastback rear window and large round wheel wells. The front fascia features an aggressive v-shaped chrome grille, twin round headlights set within square housings surrounded by chrome, and body-coloured bumpers. The windows, fenders, and rocker panels are accented with chrome.
Horizontal bar shaped taillights are set within chrome bezels beneath Riviera chrome script. The trunk is stylized with a v-shaped raised centre section and louvers on either side. The seller notes that a new performance exhaust system has been installed, and that the blue finish is a custom colour he created himself, very close to paint code #B51 by BMW.
The car rides on original 15” wheels with Riviera centre caps wrapped in Mickey Thompson Sportsman radial tires, P255/60R15 all around with disc brakes at the front and drum brakes at the rear. The Buick Riviera is 217 inches long, 80 inches wide, and 54 inches high, with a 122 inch wheelbase and a curb weight of 4,247 lbs.
Inside the cabin, seating for four is upholstered in white padded leather with buttons. The front seats have a fold-down armrest, and the carpeting is black. The dash curves toward the occupant on both the driver and the passenger side. The doors and steering wheel are accented with cherry wood trim, and chrome brightwork is found throughout the car. The windows are powered.
A three-spoke steering wheel fronts an instrument panel set within feathered aluminium bezels with a strip-style 120 km/hr speedometer at the centre. Switches and sliders for wipers, GM’s Full-Flo ventilation system, lights, an AM radio, and an analog clock are surrounding. Stamped aluminium door sills bear the emblem of Fisher Body - an American coachbuilder firm that operated as a division of GM from 1908 to 1984. An aftermarket Retro sound system with premium speakers, an amplifier, and bluetooth compatibility has been installed, along with a backup camera wired to an LCD screen mounted on the dash.
The Buick Riviera is powered by a fully rebuilt 7.5-liter V8 mated to a 3-speed TH400 automatic transmission and a Max Trac limited-slip differential driving the rear wheels. This has an output rated at 330 horsepower at 4,600 rpm and 455 lb-ft of torque at 2,800 when new. The independent front suspension utilises coil springs and the rear has a self-levelling pneumatic design over shocks. The seller lowered the sport suspension in the restoration process.
