This is a 1964 Ford Galaxie 500XL finished in Wimbledon White (paint code #M1619) over a turquoise blue vinyl interior. It is powered by a 352 cu in. V8 engine paired with a 3-speed Cruise-o-Matic automatic transmission. The Galaxie 500XL is a top of the line full-sized car produced by the American manufacturer from 1959 to 1974. The name Galaxie was inspired by the excitement for the space race felt among the general public, and XL stood for “Xtra Lively.” This year and body style became Ford’s all-time best seller at this trim level, and 1964 was the last year on the second generation Galaxie platform. This Ford Galaxie 500XL is currently registered in Quebec with a clean and (Normal) status. Its odometer reads approximately 58k-miles. The seller mentions that this example has been fully restored, including the frame, paint, and interior.

For US bidders, this Ford Galaxie 500XL is directly importable without modification as it is EPA & DOT exempt being greater than 25 years old. For more information on transport/import please visit our Transport/Import page here.

This full-size hardtop coupe is a top-line Ford Galaxie, which offers more chrome trim on the exterior over base models. It has rounded twin headlights that are integrated into the chrome grille slats and set within protruding chrome housings. Also integrated into the grille is a Galaxie script emblem, accompanied by Ford script badging on the hood. The car's bumpers are also chrome, with round black bumper guards at the front. A dent in the rear bumper is noted and pictured in the gallery. This Galaxie 500XL has had its Wimbledon White paint resprayed. Ford and Galaxie 500XL script emblems are also placed on the fenders and beneath the trunk lid, and set against chrome character lines that resemble a missile in flight. This car has no B pillar, making for a particularly expansive view for rear passengers. Fender skirts partially conceal the Galaxies 15” American Racing mag wheels, which are wrapped in BF Goodrich Radial T/A tires, P225/70R15 all around, which the seller notes were recently purchased. Dual exhaust outlets and round afterburner tail lights complement the rear panel. The Galaxie 500XL is 82 inches wide and 210 inches long, with a wheelbase of 119 inches and a curb weight of 3,622 lbs.

The interior cabin of this Galaxie 500XL features thin-shell bucket seats with chrome trim, a centre console, and plenty of chrome accents, all unique to the XL trim level. The ribbed two-tone turquoise vinyl upholstery has been refurbished. Front passenger seat belts had become a new regulation at the time, and the rear passenger seatbelts are an aftermarket installation - both use only the lap harness. The car comes equipped with power steering, an AM push-button “Retrosounds” radio, an analog clock, a “Magic-Aire” heater/defroster, two-speed electric windshield wipers, and a padded vinyl dash. The headliner is off-white and courtesy lights are placed at the foot of the doors. A three-spoke XL branded steering wheel fronts an analog instrumentation panel with a strip-style speedometer at the centre, a fuel level gauge to the left, and a temperature gauge to the right.

This Ford Galaxie 500XL is powered by a 352 cubic inch V8 engine paired to a 3-speed Cruise-o-Matic automatic transmission and a two-barrel carburetor. The V8 produced 250 horsepower at 4,400 rpm and 352 lb-ft of torque at 2,200 rpm when new. The seller notes that the spark plugs, wiring, rotor, and electric fuel pump have been replaced.
