Description
This is a 2005 BMW E46 M3 finished in Silver Grey Metallic (paint code: A08). This M3 is offered for sale privately and it is located in Calgary, AB Canada. As per the included CarFax, this M3 was sold new in Pennsylvania, USA and remained with the original owner until June 2019 when it was sold to the current owner and seller. The previous owner imported the M3 into Canada in 2008 and it has remained registered in Alberta with a (Normal) status since. Being a later model E46, this M3 benefits from exterior updates including LED taillights and various other subtle enhancments. Highlights of the factory equipment include Xenon headlights, heated and power-adjustable front seats, a Harman/Kardon premium sound system, cruise control, a power sunroof and an SMG transmission (Sequential Manual Gearbox). The seller has included a walk around and driving video which are viewable in the gallery below.
The exterior of this M3 has had subtle modifications added including an M3 “CSL” style front bumper with carbon fibre winglets, carbon fibre kidney grills, carbon fibre fender vents and a carbon fibre BMW hood badge. The body features M3 model-specific fender vents, a true-quad tipped muffler and parktronic rear bumper sensors. The seller mentions the original wheels have been replaced in favour of genuine M3 CSL wheels. These wheels have been wrapped in Continental tires measuring 245/35ZR19 in the front and 275/30R19 in the rear. The seller mentions the original wheels will accompany the sale. BMW emblemed valve stem caps complete the wheel package. As per the included Carfax, there have been two previous insurance claims listed occurring in 2009 and 2011. Each claim totalling $2673 and $560 respectively. The driver's side rear quarter panel has been repainted and there are two dents in the passenger c-pillar. The seller notes minor rock chips on the front-end of the the M3 along with a crack in the lower portion of the front bumper.
The interior is trimmed in Imola red leather on the front/rear seats and door cards. The steering wheel has been trimmed in a two-tone black and red leather pattern. The interior features Vorsteiner silver carbon fibre trim panels on the dashboard, door handles, steering wheel and centre console. The original gear selector has been replaced with an updated and illuminated selector from an E60 M5 model.
The sequential manual gearbox is operated via the centre console gear selector or via the carbon fibre trimmed paddles mounted on the rear of the steering wheel. The pedals have had aluminum “M” covers added. The cluster shows a km/h and mph speedometer and approximately 140k kms show on the digital odometer. The seller mentions that approximately 3500kms of which have been added under his ownership.
Mechanical & Service
Powering the M3 is a 3.2-litre inline 6-cylinder naturally aspirated engine. Mated to the S54B32 engine is an SMG automatic gearbox. The motor features variable valve-timing technology (named VANOS), it also has independent throttle bodies for each cylinder. In stock form the S54 produces 333hp and 271 lb. ft of torque.
The seller mentions that in May 2017 the original rod bearings were replaced, the Vanos mechanism was upgraded and the rear subframe was reinforced. The seller mentions other recent service including changing the spark plugs, fuel pump and relay, coolant sensor and the cabin & air filters. The seller mentions that the sale includes a Vorsteiner rear diffuser, Eibach lowering springs and a set of original coil packs.
