This is a 2000 BMW R1150 GS finished in silver and black with a black seat. It is powered by a 1130 cc 2-cylinder four-stroke horizontally opposed flat-twin engine with a 6-speed transmission. Sold by the German automaker from 1999 to 2004, the BMW R1150 GS sport touring bike was named the best in its class in 2000 by Cycle World Magazine. Furthermore, a number of Guinness World Records for motorcycle endurance were made using this bike. This example has an odometer that stopped at 150K-kms (total mileage unknown), and it is registered in Quebec with an active and (Normal) status. This sturdy sport touring bike has a silver and black colour scheme with red nameplate decals and BMW badges. Stopping power is managed by optioned Brembo ABS brakes. It features turn signal lights that extrude from the perimeter frame, with side reflectors mounted at the bottom of the fork. Renthal padding is placed on the middle beam of the handlebars. The fuel tank is located in front of the rider.
Touratech saddle bins are installed on either side of the rear seat, with a jerry can placed inside one of these that is included in the sale. Spoke tubeless wheels are 19” wheels at the front and 17” at the back. The bike has a curb weight of 549 lbs and a 59 inch wheelbase.
This unmodified R1150 GS is equipped with black rubber handlebars with easily accessible switches for headlight settings, emergency flashers, horn, and turn signalling on the left, and ABS brakes, horn, ignition, and turn signalling on the right. The hand grips are heated; an optional upgrade.
A black instrument panel bears a digital VDO fuel gauge and clock to the left, a 240 km/hr speedometer at the centre, and a 10,000 rpm tachometer to the right. Red, amber and green backlit indicator lights are below. The seat pad is black and suitable for two riders. The seller points out that the odometer and speedometer are non-functional.
This R1150 GS is powered by a 1130 cc 2-cylinder four-stroke horizontally opposed flat-twin magnesium engine with a 6-speed transmission. This is operated by a dry single plate, shaft drive, and a hydraulic clutch. The bike has a claimed top speed of 195 km/hr and a 22L fuel capacity. The R1150 GS came factory rated with 83 horsepower and 72 lb-ft of torque when new. It has a cable operated throttle and one spark per cylinder. This engine system is fuel injected with a digital DCI ignition and wet sump lubrication. The seller notes that the fluids were replaced in Spring 2022.
