The BMW Z3 was produced from 1995 to 2002. The 2-door roadster was model code E36/7. 2000 saw the Z3 receive a new alloy wheel design, an upgraded sound system with two subwoofers, and a leather-wrapped M-Technic sport steering wheel. BMW Z3’s use Dynamic Stability Control steering which assists to bring the car under control if it begins to skid, unless DSC is deactivated. In the 2000 model year, DSC became integrated with the vehicle’s Dynamic Brake Control and Automatic Differential Brake functions.
The Z3 was the first BMW to be manufactured outside of Germany, being constructed instead in Greer, South Carolina. A 1996 Atlanta Blue Metallic Z3 appears in the James Bond movie Goldeneye, the first of three BMW’s to appear in three sequential Bond films as a result of a cross-promotion agreement between the German manufacturer and the film franchise.
The 2000 BMW Z3 is powered by a 2.0-liter inline-6 M52TUB20 engine capable of producing 148 horsepower at 5900 rpm when new that uses a double VANOS valve timing system, paired with a 5-speed Getrag 250 manual transmission.
