The 997 came in multiple variants. The "Carrera" was a rear-wheel-drive narrow-body variant, the "Carrera S" was a narrow body rear-wheel-drive variant with increased power, the Carrera 4 was the same power rating as the Carrera but a four-wheel-drive variant with a wide-body, then the Carrera 4S was a four-wheel-drive wide-body variant with an increase in power over the Carrera. Then there was a cabriolet option for each of the aforementioned variants.
