The 5th iteration of the 911 Turbo had the internal chassis designation of 997. The 997 generation returned to the "Classic" 911 front-end styling after the departure during the 996 models. The earlier 997.1 models retained a Mezger engine while the 997.2 models moved on from the Mezger powertrains. The 997 Turbo is loved for its Classic styling, analog driving experience and it was the the last 911 Turbo generation available to be optioned with a manual transmission.
