In 1949, Dodge introduced their first new bodystyle since the Second World War. This year also marked the debut of the all-new Coronet. Alongside the new model, Dodge introduced a range of lower-tier models, the Wayfarer and Meadowbrook, as well as a small lineup specific for Canada known as the Special Deluxe.

This 1950 Dodge Special Deluxe, affectionately named “Alice,” belongs to a young car enthusiast and represents their very first classic car. Eden acquired Alice a couple of years ago from her previous caretaker, making a near 1000-kilometre round trip to meet and bring the Special Deluxe back to her new home from the small town of St.Paul, Alberta.

The Special Deluxe is powered by a 230 cubic inch straight-six engine paired with a three-speed manual transmission. This exquisite cruiser is dressed in its original Fog Green paint, complemented by a faux wood grain interior trim finish. The factory steel wheels were colour matched to Alice’s body, wrapped in white walled bias ply tires and adorned with the original poverty caps, creating the perfect original vintage aesthetic reminiscent of its showroom days.

Eden and her father worked together to mechanically revive Alice, and soon enough, they were cruising the streets with her cherished Dodge. Under her fathers guidance, Eden quickly mastered the infamous three-on-the-tree transmission, embarking on countless adventures and creating lasting memories with Alice and her friends along the way.

One of Eden’s most memorable moments with Alice is truly reminiscent of the sixties. Eden and two of her close friends brought a turntable and sat it alongside the classic cruiser, where the trio huddled inside the beloved Special Deluxe for a full night of music and freelove. Together, they spun vinyl records, immersing themselves in the Woodstock energy they cherish so dearly, evoking the spirit of “1969” with fond recollections of peace and love.
