Blog: Rover Royalty - 1987 Range Rover Classic

This 1987 Land Rover Range Rover Classic is being offered by a seller in Mississauga, ON for $26,999 with 73,000 kms on the odometer. It is finished in Savannah Beige Metallic and powered by a 3.9-liter V8 paired to a 4-speed automatic transmission. This midsize SUV is a stylish classic produced by the Land Rover division of British Leyland and Land Rover Ltd. from 1969 to 1996.

With an exterior body constructed mainly of lightweight aluminium and an undercoated frame, this vintage Range Rover has a sharp, clean-cut, functional design. The headlights and indicator lights are encased behind the black horizontal slats of a plastic grill which has the optional front valance with HELLA fog lights. It comes with a trailer hitch and winch, and sits upon 16” authentic alloy Land Rover wheels and Goodyear all terrain tires.

Land Rover first released a four door of this permanent 4x4 in 1981, increasing its popularity throughout that decade. Assembled in the UK, Australia, and Venezuela, the 1987 Range Rover has cruise control, power seats, windows, and mirrors, a stereo, and a central locking mechanism.

Lucas electronic fuel injection became the standard by 1986. This Range Rover is equipped with a 3.9-liter V8, a 4-speed automatic ZF transmission, and a LT230 transfer case. The SUV is fitted with large coil springs at all corners with linear rates in the front and dual-rates in the rear, providing eight and eleven inches of vertical wheel travel, respectively. A Boge Hydromat ride-levelling unit is located in the rear suspension. This uses pressurised gas and hydraulic fluid to assist with the stability maintained by the rear springs, allowing the wheels to traverse varied terrain without greatly disturbing the peace of the cabin.

This seller is the third owner of the Range Rover, having bought it from a gentleman in Ottawa who had it in the family since 1991. He shares that the brake pads, rotors, callipers, brake lines, air filter, oil filter, spark plugs, plug wires, and engine oil were replaced under his ownership.
