On July 20, 2024, the Vintage Sports Car Club of Calgary (VSCCC) hosted their renowned annual automotive event, the European Classic Car Meet. Each July, the VSCCC fills the fields of Stanley Park, Calgary, with exquisite automobiles, ranging from Ferraris to a plethora of MGs and Porsches, alongside a secondary event featuring a diverse array of automotive icons.

The European Classic Car Meet has been a staple in the Calgary car scene for many years. Always held at Stanley Park, the event perfectly captures the incredible beauty of classic European automobiles against the stunning backdrop of mature pine trees and rolling landscapes.

Crowds gathered around the extremely rare 1954 Pegaso Z-102B Touring Berlinetta 

This year, the marquee vehicle for the event was the Lamborghini Countach, celebrating its 50th anniversary since the first model rolled out of the factory in 1974. During my visit, I had the opportunity to see two pristine Countach models on display, with the owners generously allowing attendees to tour their beloved supercars and get close to these childhood dream machines.

In addition to the main event, a secondary meet called “The Gathering,” organized by the Still Plays With Cars automotive clothing company, featured a mix of Japanese tuner cars, American classics, and other styles. This gathering provided a space for enthusiasts of all types to showcase their rides close to the European exotics and classics just a few meters away.

The annual European Classic Car Meet was a tremendous success, drawing in hundreds of unique and rarely seen European sports and exotic cars. The collaboration with Still Plays With Cars allowed visitors to enjoy a variety of tuners and classic American cars in another part of the park, adding to the diverse and exciting atmosphere of the event.
