Oldsmobile Rocket Round Up 2024

On Saturday, July 20th, 2024, I embarked on a journey through Southern Alberta to visit three different car shows. My first stop was the European Classic Car Meet at Stanley Park, followed by the Bearspaw Lions Club Show & Shine, with the final destination being the Oldsmobile Rocket Round Up in Olds, Alberta.

The Oldsmobile Rocket Round Up was celebrating its thirtieth anniversary in 2024, marking three decades of history in the town of Olds, Alberta. The event, held at Hildebrand Motors, is perfectly suited to the town, as "Olds" is a common nickname for Oldsmobile among auto enthusiasts worldwide.

While modest in size, the show featured an impressive array of vehicles from the now-defunct manufacturer. Among the Hurst 442s, survivor-quality classics, and fully restored show cars, one vehicle stood out to me: a 1958 Oldsmobile station wagon. This remarkable car was the first of its kind to roll off the assembly line, a significant milestone in Oldsmobile’s history.

The Oldsmobile Rocket Round Up was truly a fantastic event, showcasing special muscle cars and the very first Oldsmobile of 1958. I look forward to returning in the future and hope to bring an Oldsmobile of my own to the next show.

Until the next time I see you guys, get wrenching, get driving, and keep these classics alive!
