Diamond Engraved Jubilee

The fifth-generation Lincoln Continentals, known as the Mark V, hold a special place in the collector car market, ranking among the most desirable Ford products of the 1970s. These vehicles also boast an impressive survival, with many Mark V's today still preserved in original condition and relatively low mileage to them. While the number of Mark V Lincoln Continentals have remained untouched or are painstakingly restored to their original glory, there are those who have elevated these cars to the status of rolling works of art.

This 1978 Lincoln Continental Mark V made a late entrance to the Stay Gold Custom Car Show in 2023. Even amidst a show overflowing with custom lowriders, this luxury coupe managed to stand out and exuded an elegant aura that gracefully complemented the numerous metallic-painted custom automobiles on display.

This Continental was elegantly draped in a flawless glossy black finish, adorned with tasteful hints of blue and purple pinstripes delicately traced across its body. These meticulously applied pinstripes harmonised beautifully with an abundance of spun gold leaf and silver metal detailing, creating a captivating and vivid contrast against the deep, jet-black paint.

The intricate details extended seamlessly across the body, with the car featuring a breathtaking array of engravings. Notably, the grille, opera window trim, mirrors, and various other trim components showcased a remarkable engraving pattern that resonated with the signature style of California lowriders. The artistry of the engraving didn't stop there; it continued onto the Zenith wire wheels, where it transformed the shoes into a captivating two-tone chrome and gold pattern adorning the inner barrel of the custom wheels.

Continuing with the exterior enhancements, the front bumper of the Mark V underwent a significant transformation. It was expertly sectioned and skillfully fabricated, resulting in a distinctive two-piece split bumper design. This modification not only improved the car's aesthetics but also unveiled the grandeur of the expansive Continental-sized grille, which was no longer concealed behind the bulky malaise impact bumper. Instead, it was now prominently on display, allowing onlookers to admire its magnificent proportions.

Stepping into the opulent Lincoln, the interior had undergone a lavish transformation. It boasted a rich, deep black leather upholstery featuring an exquisite diamond-tuck pattern that adorned both the seats and door panels. Mirroring the exterior's attention to detail, the Nardi aftermarket steering wheel received a final, loving touch of the same intricate engraving that had graced the car's exterior.

The audio system was updated,  adding a touch of modern class throughout the interior. A pair of 4x10 speakers were positioned beneath the rear window, these speaker grilles proudly showcasing Lincoln emblems at their centres as a tribute to the iconic Lincoln Mark V opera windows.
