Jazzy Javelin AMX

In the late 1960s, American Motors Corporation entered the Pony Wars to challenge the dominance of models like the Mustang and Camaro on the track. Their response came in the form of the AMC Javelin, which would go on to achieve remarkable success in the Trans Am race series.

The Javelin boasted a striking two-tone metallic paint job, combining a soft beige with a rich, deep red that gracefully accentuated the contours of this pony car. What further set it apart was its choice of wheels, as it confidently sported a set of Mustang Cobra rims, a unique departure from the more common choices of Cragar or American Racing wheels favoured by enthusiasts.

Moving to the interior, the beige theme continued seamlessly from the exterior, creating a harmonious look. A standout feature inside was the half cage setup, cleverly incorporating aftermarket speakers directly into the roll bar. While the exterior flaunted its custom uniqueness, the interior largely retained its stock form, with the exception of the speakers, a handful of additional gauges, and the presence of a Hurst shifter, serving as the only noticeable signs of modification to the vehicle.

Beneath the hood, the heart of this Javelin hot rod still beat with the AMC 401. The small-block V8 received a stylish upgrade, adorned with Offenhauser valve covers and equipped with a more efficient four-barrel intake. Fueled by a Holley Street Brawler carburetor, it ensured that extra fuel was delivered to AMC's largest displacement engine. The engine displayed a raw, bare metal finish, with the valve cover fins painted in a matching red to echo the overall aesthetic of this pony car's exterior.
