August Heat 2024, Red Deer’s Mopar Show

On August 10, 2024, I embarked on a journey from my humble home in Calgary, Alberta, traveling a few hundred kilometers north to Red Deer, where the long-running “Red Deer Mopar Show,” now called “August Heat,” was in full swing. Held at Red Deer Polytechnic, the event showcased over one hundred unique and rare Mopars. Red Deer boasts an impressive collection of Chrysler products, capable of turning heads even at the most prestigious Mopar events worldwide.

The Central Alberta Mopar Association (CAMA) is one of many Mopar communities across Alberta and has hosted one of the province’s longest-running Chrysler-specific events. This year, CAMA celebrated 30 years of their annual show and shine. Over the years, the event has changed venues multiple times, previously being held at Westerner Park, Bower Place, and Parkland Mall, before finding a home at Red Deer Polytechnic in recent years.

The show featured more than one hundred Mopars, all gleaming brightly under the clear summer sky. Among the stunning Chargers, Road Runners, and Darts were several extremely rare classics. Notable standouts included a Dodge W100 “Top Hand,” a unique special edition of the popular Dodge trucks, and a Chrysler Valiant Charger, an Australian muscle car imported decades ago by its owner and possibly one of the only examples in North America.

The 2024 CAMA August Heat show was well worth the trip. With a vast array of classic Mopars spread across the Red Deer Polytechnic campus, the vibrant colors and special editions left attendees in awe. For any Mopar enthusiast, this show is definitely worth a visit.
