Taber Gear Lords Show & Shine 2024
On August 24, 2024, I was on my way to Taber for the Gear Lords Show & Shine, an event that coincided with the popular Taber Cornfest. This large, family-friendly festival is free to attend and celebrates the town's famous corn, which is cherished throughout Alberta. The Gear Lords show spanned several streets, filling blocks with hundreds of classic cars and special interest vehicles for everyone to enjoy.
A wildly excited Corn mascot was touring the show throughout the day
The Gear Lords Car Club hosted their annual Show & Shine in Taber, just a short 30-minute drive from Lethbridge. The town was packed with hundreds of classic cars from across southern Alberta, stretching nearly five blocks along both sides of the shopping district. It was one of the largest shows I’ve attended so far this year.
Cars and Corn could be seen across the town of Taber
The Show & Shine coincided with the town's massively popular “Cornfest” family festival, known as the largest free family festival in Western Canada. Featuring midway rides, parades, and live music, Cornfest offers something for everyone. Although I didn’t get to fully experience Cornfest this year, I plan to return in the future to enjoy more of the festival’s non-automotive events. The joyful atmosphere, filled with smiles and laughter, made me eager for a return visit.
One of the many streets lined with classic cars
The 2024 Taber Gear Lords Show & Shine was one of the biggest car shows I’ve attended this season. With hundreds of classic cars on display and the lively Cornfest happening all weekend, it was undoubtedly one of the most enjoyable events of my summer.
The divers array of vehicles ranged from classic muscle all the way to air-cooled Volkswagens
Until the next time I see you guys, get wrenching, get driving, and keep these classics alive!
